Wacky Wednesday!

In our first week back from summer, the Wiggleworms started with our Opening Song, where we said hi to the librarian, the mural, the curtains and our Story Time friends.

BOOK: Wacky Wednesday
by Theo LeSeig (aka Dr. Seuss)
illustrated by George Booth

Classic Dr. Seuss! Kids love wacky out of sync drawings and sing songy rhyme!  Tons of fun!

Song: “Put Your Hands Up High!”

Put your hands up high!
Put your hands down low!
Put your hands in the middle and wiggle them so!
Put your elbows to the front,
Put your elbows to the back,
Put your elbows to the side,

BOOK: I Took My Frog to the Library
by Eric A. Kimmel

Illustrated by Blanche Sims

Frog to the Library

More goofy fun! Different animals cause different problems in the library. Laugh-out-Loud silly with a great reminder about library ettiquette.

GAME CUBE!- check out the link to these fun songs we pick by rolling our Game Cube dice!

BOOK: Slop Goes the Soup
by Pamela D. Edwards and Harry Cole

Slop Goes the Soup

It all starts with Warthog sneezing into a bowl of soup… AHHH-CHOOO! Using only onomatopoeia (words that sound like what they mean) this crazy story got the kids chuckling! After reading the book we discussed what onomatopoeia is and came up with some words that weren’t used in the book. A little crazy, but lots of fun. Special thanks to my own 4 y.o. for checking this book out of the library.

Magnet Board Game: “One of These Things is Not Like the Other”
20141008_163237 20141008_163217 20141008_163156 20141008_163043

One of these things is not like the other,
Which one is different?
Do you know?
Tell me which thing is not like the other,
And I’ll tell you if it is so!

Great conversation starter! There are tons of different versions and videos of this game on YouTube! Check it out! For more information on this game look at my Flannel Friday post!

Closing Rhyme & Song

How it Went:

So wonderful to see all of our Wiggleworms, include some Itsy Bitsies who have moved up and meet some new Story Time friends too!  The new Bananna Break went GREAT! Books were all a huge hit, and no one seemed to worried that our craft time is now a take home craft!  Tons of fun! Went so well I am planning on having MORE Wacky Wednesday Story Times!
