Family, Friends & Turkeys

Itsy Bitsy Story Time – November

Here are the songs and rhymes we are using this month!

Turkey Finger Rhyme
I have a turkey big and fat (make fist with thumb stuck out for turkey’s head)
He spreads his tail and walks like that, (make ‘tail’ by spreading out other hand and attaching to other hand)
His daily corn he would not miss, (poke thumb to ‘eat’)
And when he talks he talks like this:
Gobble, gobble, gobble, gobble, gobble!
(tickle your baby/toddler!!)

Let’s Clap Our Hand for Grandma
(Tune: Did You Ever See a Lassie
)
Let’s clap our hands for Grandma,
for Grandma, for Grandma,
Let’s clap hands for Grandma,
Let’s clap them this way.
Clap this way and that way,
Clap this way and that way.
Let’s clap hands for Grandma,
Let’s clap them this way.

Let’s stomp our feet for Grandpa….
Let’s nod our heads for Mommy…
etc.

Let’s Bounce: Popcorn!
Popcorn, popcorn,
Sizzling in the pan,
Shake it up, shake it up,
Bam, bam bam!

Popcorn, popcorn,
Now it’s getting hot!
Shake it up! Shake it up!
Pop! Pop! Pop!

Hand Rhyme: Mr. Turkey and Mr. Duck
Mr. Turkey went out one day in the bright sunshiny weather,
He met Mr. Duck along the way, and they stopped to talk together.
They said: “Gobble, gobble, gobble”
“Quack, quack, quack.”
“Gobble, gobble, gobble.”

“Quack, quack, quack.”
“Gobble, gobble, gobble.”
And then they both went back.
“QUACK!”

Time to Move: Turkey Trot
(Tune:  Hokey Pokey)
You put your right wing in, (right elbow)
You put your right wing out,
You put your right wing in,
And you shake it all about,
You do the Turkey Trot,
And you turn yourself around,
That’s what it’s all about!

You put your left wing in (left elbow)…
You put your drumsticks in (legs)…
You put your stuffing in (stomach)…
You put your wattle in (head)…
You put your tail feathers in (backside)…

Song: We Eat Turkey
(Tune:  Where is Thumbkin)
We eat turkey, we eat turkey,
Oh so good! Oh so good!
Always on Thanksgiving!
Always on Thanksgiving!
Yum, yum, yum!
Yum, yum, yum!

Mashed potatoes, mashed potatoes…
Pie and ice cream, pie and ice cream…
Lots of stuffing, lots of stuffing…
etc. – asking kids what they eat – several in my group eat pizza!!
