Community Helpers, Trucks and Transportation

Itsy Bitsy Story Time – September 2013

This month Itsy Bitsy Story Time is all about the people in our neighborhood, trains, planes and trucks!

Here is a list of the songs and rhymes we will be using all month…

Finger Rhyme #1

5 brave firefighters, sleeping so,
The fire bell rings, down the pole they go.
Jump in the fire truck, hurry down the street.
Climb up the ladder,Feel the fire’s heat.
Five brave firefighters put the fire out,
Hip Hip Hooray!  All the people shout!

Action Rhyme #1

This is a choo choo train,
Puffing down the track,
Now it’s going forward, Now it’s going back
Now the bell is ringing
Now the whistle blows
What a lot of noise it makes everywhere it goes
Woooo-wooooo!

Time to Bounce!
Tune:  One little, Two little…

Bumpity bumpity comes the dump truck
Bumpity bumpity comes the dump truck
Bumpity bumpity comes the dump truck
Dump the load right out the back.

I’ve got oranges in my dumptruck…
I’ve got boxes in my dump truck…
etc.

Song #1 – Pete the Pilot
Tune:  Old MacDonald

(Instead of “Pete” “Dan” & “Carle” I use the names of kids in the group – and I keep a list each week so I don’t use anyone twice!)

Pete Pilot has a Plane,
Zoom, zoom, zoom, zoom, zoom.
and on that plane there are some wings,
Zoom, zoom, zoom, zoom, zoom.
With a zoom zoom here and a zoom zoom there,
here a zoom, there a zoom
everywhere a zoom, zoom
Pete the pilot has a plane,
Zoom, zoom, zoom, zoom, zoom

Dan the driver has a car
Beep beep beep beep beep

Carle the conductor has a train,
Chug chug chug chug chug

Let’s Move!

Reach for the ceiling,
Sit down on the floor,
Stand up again,
Let’s do some more!
Touch your head,
Then touch your knee,
Up to your shoulders,
Like this you see!

Reach for the ceiling,
Sit down on the floor,
Stand up again,
>Let’s do some more!
Here’s your eyes and
Here’s your feet,
Now jump with me to the beat!
1, 2, 3,
Reach for the ceiling,
Sit down on the floor,
That’s all there is,
There isn’t any more!

Song #2 – Community Helpers
Tune:  The Farmer in the Dell

The Firefighter is brave,
The Firefighter is brave,
Heigh-ho, What do you know?
The Firefighter is brave.

The police keep us safe…
The librarian gives us books…
The baker bakes our ____…
The doctor keeps us healthy…
The dentist cleans our teeth…
